19. Two to tango

Grace

I heard Noah pacing in front of the bathroom door.

"You know if you stop pacing in front of the door this might not be so difficult! I have a shy bladder."

"Okay, I’ll stop. Sorry." I heard him breathe out a deep sigh.

"Thankfully this is the last test. Now they're so eloquently spread out on the table as we wait." I huffed and I wasn't kidding. Noah thought that the more tests we had, the better.

After I freaked out about my very late period and he freaked out with me, I ran up and down the stairs yelling 'NO!' and he started making a massive amount of waffles. We'll be eating waffles for the next two days. He then went out to the nearest pharmacy and grabbed different pregnancy tests, so here we are. I really think that two would have been enough.

After using the last test, I swung the door open and handed the tests to him.

He set them beside the others. I took a seat beside him on the couch so that we could wait.

"Would it be so bad if we had a baby?" He asked slowly turning to me.

"I don't know. I'm was not thinking about that. I'm firstly thinking about your safety, my brother and father are going to hunt you down. Adam isn't big on hunting, but he is great with a scalpel." Adam had a nasty protective streak that nobody deserves to see.

" However if I am pregnant, I'm going to kill you first, okay?"

"Why? It takes two to tango." I glared at him. He was right, “I think it will be nice to have a baby." He stated simply as if he didn't mind the repercussions. I smacked him on the shoulder.

"Imagine crying at all hours in the morning, the pain of birth, and all those stinky diapers. That doesn't sound too nice on my side of things."

Before I let him dream too much I interjected, "I'm not sure we can handle it in our freshly evolved relationship yet." I slumped down further into my seat. I wasn't ready to be a mother, maybe he was ready for children, but I wasn't. We haven't even thought of that yet.

The tests started to show some changed so I lurched up and checked them as each of them started changing.

The most of them showed not pregnant but there were two that stated otherwise. I could feel the blood inside me starting to run cold.

Noah stood beside me.

"So now what?"

"How am I supposed to know if there is a human growing inside me. I’m going with the majority vote. Clearly, I'm not pregnant. “Noah laughed; I hit him again on the shoulder.

"Ow, what was that for? I'm just not convinced." He crossed his arms over his chest.

"I am not pregnant. Let’s grab some dinner. The excitement of the day has me starving.”

"Oh no, you're not getting off the hook so easily. Tomorrow you're going to the doctor and I'm coming with you."

"Okay, fine! Now can we eat some of the dozens of waffles you've made?"

"Yeah, I guess I cook when I 'm stressed.
